We wanted to share some details about a bespoke commissioned grey and white diamond engagement ring we created for M&C’s engagement. The couple designed this bespoke gold ring with Maya in order to get an individual, extra-special experience for their engagement

With every bespoke experience at Maya Magal, we like to make sure we capture the individual personality of the client. We like to know as much as we can about the wearer, so we can make sure the ring has a personalised, unique feel to it. A bespoke piece of jewellery, after all, must be one of a kind.

For M&C, we really love the uniqueness of this gold ring, and think it must have made such a magical moment for the engagement and for sharing the news.

The Diamond Engagement Ring

This is M&C's Ring; a dreamy central grey diamond and two white marquise cut side stones. It is all set on a chunky 18ct gold band which we think adds to the beauty of this unique and wonderful grey diamond engagement ring.

More details about this gold ring

This ring is a three stone gold ring with an individual charm. The shaping is slightly unusual and we love how personalised it is.

The central, larger stone is a beautiful grey diamond. We love grey diamonds because of their individual, one-of-a-kind charm. You can learn more about grey diamonds and where they come from on our blog

The central grey diamond is cut into a ‘radiant’ shape. This is a rectangular shaped grey diamond set in 4 prongs. The radiant cut has 70 facets, and therefore is one of the most brilliant diamond shapes available today. They’re also ideal cuts for coloured diamonds. The faceting structure creates a depth that highlights the colour tones within the grey diamond.

Prong settings promote a timeless, clean look. They will complement any grey diamond engagement ring, and are easy to clean and maintain. They reduce the amount of metal around the stones, and mean that more light can reach them, which helps to showcase their sparkle.

The two side stones frame the central diamond and add extra sparkle to the gold ring. They are white marquise shaped diamonds. This oval shape with tapered edges dates back to 18th century France. King Louis XV is thought to have ordered royal jewellers to cut diamonds to resemble the lips of his lover, Marquise de Pompadour. So they are the perfect diamond shape to symbolise love and to add to a grey diamond engagement ring.

These side stones are set into the gold ring using the bezel setting, meaning the stones are encased in a thin metal rim custom-made to hold them in place. The bezel setting provides protection for the diamond and gives the ring a sleek, modern appearance.

We think M&C made some great decisions when choosing the aspects of their bespoke grey diamond engagement ring. The result is a beautifully modern and unique design. The chunky 18ct gold band adds an extra edge to the gold ring and means it is truly one-of-a-kind.

We loved being a part of M&C’s engagement story, and wish them the best of luck with their life together. We are so proud to be able to offer this bespoke experience and help couples find the perfect accompaniment to the next step in their love!
