RING SIZE GUIDE

How to Measure Your Ring Size Accurately

Finding your ring size should feel simple. Whether you're treating yourself, choosing a gift or investing in an engagement ring, this guide explains how to measure your ring size accurately from home. We'll walk you through three easy methods, explain when to measure for the most accurate result and answer some of the questions we're most often asked by our customers.

1. Use an adjustable ring sizer

The most reliable way to measure your ring size is with an adjustable ring sizer - the same style used in jewellers’ workshops.

HOW TO USE IT
  1. Slide the sizer onto your finger.
  2. Tighten until it feels snug but comfortable.
  3. Check the letter that aligns with the arrow - that’s your UK ring size.

Order our adjustable ring sizer for 50p, and ensure a perfect fit for any Maya Magal ring.

2. Measure a ring you already own

If you have a ring that fits the same finger, use our Printable Ring Size Guide.

HOW TO USE IT

  1. Download and print the guide at 100% scale.
  2. Place your ring on the circles until the inside edge matches one perfectly.
  3. Use the corresponding letter size.

This method is quick, easy, and reliable - especially for engagement and signet rings.

3. Use the string or paper method

A simple method if you don’t have a ring nearby.

You'll need:

  • A thin strip of paper or string
  • A pen
  • A ruler

HOW TO MEASURE

  1. Wrap the string or paper around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark where the ends meet.
  3. Measure the length in millimetres.
  4. Compare the measurement with our UK ring size chart.

This method is a helpful starting point, though less precise than using a ring sizer.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR RING SIZE ACCURATELY

Getting the right ring size is about more than measuring once. Finger size naturally changes throughout the day, so taking a few simple precautions will help you achieve the most accurate fit. For the best results, we recommend measuring your finger at the end of the day, when your hands are at a normal temperature. Fingers tend to be slightly larger in the evening and after everyday activity, making this the most reliable time to measure.

If you're unsure of your size, visit us in one of our London stores and our team can help guide you through the process or recommend the most suitable fit.

TOP TIPS FOR ACCURATE SIZING

  • Measure your finger two or three times to check for consistency.
  • Measure at the end of the day for the most reliable result.
  • Avoid measuring when your hands are very cold or immediately after exercise.
  • Consider the width of the ring, as wider bands can feel tighter.
  • If you're buying a surprise gift, use a ring already worn on the same finger whenever possible.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO MEASURE YOUR RING SIZE?

Your finger size changes throughout the day in response to temperature, activity and hydration.

For the most accurate result, we recommend measuring your finger in the evening, when it has settled into its natural size.

Avoid measuring:

  • First thing in the morning.
  • Immediately after exercise.
  • When your hands are very cold.
  • During periods of extreme heat.

If your measurements vary slightly, repeat the process over a few days and use the average result. If you're unsure, we're always happy to help.
