OUR APPROACH TO CONSCIOUS CRAFTSMANSHIP
Jewellery should be made to last. Not only in quality, but in meaning.
At Maya Magal, sustainability isn't a collection or a trend. It's woven into how we design, source and handcraft every piece that leaves our London workshop. From recycled precious metals and responsibly sourced gemstones to small-batch production and zero-waste practices, every decision is made with longevity in mind.
Because the most sustainable piece of jewellery is one that's worn, loved and passed on.

WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE JEWELLERY?
Sustainable jewellery considers both the materials used and the way a piece is made.
This includes:
- Recycled precious metals
- Responsibly sourced gemstones
- Small-batch production
- Ethical manufacturing
- Durable craftsmanship
- Jewellery designed to last for generations
Rather than creating jewellery to follow short-lived trends, sustainable jewellery is made with permanence in mind.
CRAFTED IN LONDON
Every Maya Magal piece is designed and handcrafted in our London workshops. Unlike many jewellery brands that outsource production overseas, our jewellers work in-house, allowing us to oversee every stage of the making process.
Designing and producing locally also allows us to work in smaller batches, reducing unnecessary waste while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship. It also means we can repair, remodel and create bespoke pieces throughout the lifetime of your jewellery.

RECYCLED PRECIOUS METALS
100% recycled gold and recycled sterling silver.
Our collections are crafted using recycled sterling silver and recycled solid gold. Recycling precious metals significantly reduces the environmental impact associated with newly mined materials while maintaining exactly the same quality, durability and beauty. Gold and silver can be recycled repeatedly without losing their inherent properties.
For us, choosing recycled metals is a natural extension of creating jewellery designed to last.

RESPONSIBLY SOURCED GEMSTONES
Every gemstone has its own story.
We carefully source diamonds and coloured gemstones from trusted suppliers who share our commitment to responsible practices.
Where possible, we prioritise traceability, quality and longevity over volume. Each gemstone is individually selected for its beauty and character before being set by hand in our London workshop.

A ZERO-WASTE APPROACH
Jewellery making inevitably produces small precious metal offcuts. Rather than discarding these, every piece is collected within our workshop before being melted down and reused in future designs. It's a simple practice, but one that reflects our wider philosophy of respecting both materials and craftsmanship.
SMALL BATCH PRODUCTION
We don't believe in producing thousands of identical pieces.
Our collections are created in limited runs, allowing us to make thoughtfully, reduce overproduction and continually refine our designs. Small-batch production also enables our jewellers to maintain the high level of attention each piece deserves.

JEWELLERY DESIGNED TO LAST
One of the most overlooked aspects of sustainability is longevity.
Jewellery that lasts for decades is inherently more sustainable than jewellery that needs replacing after a season.
That's why we focus on:
- timeless design
- durable construction
- precious materials
- classic proportions
- repairability
Our hope is that every piece becomes part of someone's story for many years to come.

BESPOKE JEWELLERY
Creating a bespoke piece is one of the most sustainable ways to commission jewellery.
Instead of producing something for an unknown customer, every bespoke commission begins with a conversation. Together we create a ring or piece of jewellery that's made specifically for one person, one occasion and one story.
Many clients also choose to remodel inherited jewellery, giving existing precious metals and gemstones a new life.
JEWELLERY CARE
Caring for jewellery is another important part of sustainability.
With regular cleaning, occasional servicing and thoughtful storage, fine jewellery can last for generations. We encourage clients to wear their jewellery every day while also looking after it with the same care that went into making it.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
For us, sustainability isn't simply about materials. It's about making fewer, better things. It's about designing jewellery that becomes part of everyday life rather than following passing trends. It's about working closely with skilled jewellers in our London workshop.
And it's about creating pieces that can be repaired, treasured and eventually passed on.
