There are a number of reasons why you might want to wait to buy an engagement ring: your girlfriend may have a design in mind she absolutely wants, or you're really not 100% sure what she'd love and don't want to get it wrong. Maybe you have a special occasion coming up that's perfect to propose, but you just haven't found the perfect ring... Or the ring you know would be perfect for her might not exist yet and you know she would love the process of designing it bespoke
Let's face it, buying an engagement ring is a big commitment and it can be a little intimidating. But don't panic, that's what promise rings are for!
As the name suggests, a promise ring is a symbol of love and commitment, and it can be given to your significant other with the understanding that it will soon be replaced by an engagement ring.
What's great about a promise ring is it's something special from you so you can propose with it and then find the right engagement ring together. There is no right or wrong when it comes to picking a promise ring, as there is an option for every style and budget. Just keep in mind that a promise ring should not out-shine the engagement ring!
Here are a few ideas that can help you make up your mind:
1 - Make it yourself! Join our workshops and make a ring yourself under the guide of our expert jewellers. We host two workshops that might suit you: a one-to-one ring making workshop and a wax carving class. Can't get more special than making it yourself! Plus even if it's not quite perfect it will feel perfectly imperfect because you made it.
2 - Pick a ring from our current collections
. She'll be able to keep wearing it, stacking it with her engagement ring or on another finger. Ranging from sterling silver to solid gold, these rings make for a great promise ring. Prices start at £35 so you can keep most of your budget for the engagement ring, or decide to splurge on something a little more extravagant..
3 - Propose with a single diamond!
Source the perfect diamond with us and then propose with the stone and a mini bar of solid precious metal. We even have a cute box to put them both in so they are kept safe to propose with. Then after she says yes (guaranteed!) join us
back in the studio to design the ring from those materials. You'll have help from our experienced jewellers, who will handcraft the perfect piece.
4- Propose with a toy or lolly ring.
If you really aren't sure on her jewellery style at all then this is the option for you! Find a plastic ring or a sweet shaped like a ring and use it to propose. Then book a consultation
to design a bespoke ring with the experts (us!)
