Solid gold jewellery
Our solid gold jewellery is handcrafted using recycled 9ct and 18ct gold. Pure gold is naturally soft, so it is alloyed with other metals to create a stronger, more durable material suited to everyday wear. With care, solid gold jewellery can be worn daily and passed down through generations, becoming a part of your story over time.
By using recycled gold, we also reduce the need for newly mined materials. Gold can be melted down and reused without losing its quality, making it one of the most enduring and recyclable materials in jewellery.
Solid Gold Jewellery FAQ
Solid gold jewellery is made from a gold alloy that runs all the way through the piece rather than being plated over another metal. At Maya Magal, our pieces are handcrafted using recycled 9ct and 18ct solid gold, meaning the gold content is part of the metal itself. This makes solid gold jewellery durable, valuable, and designed to last a lifetime.
The difference lies in the amount of pure gold in the alloy. 9ct gold contains 37.5% pure gold, while 18ct gold contains 75% pure gold.
9ct gold is slightly harder and well suited to everyday jewellery, while 18ct gold has a richer colour due to its higher gold content. Both are excellent choices for fine jewellery designed to be worn and loved for years.
Solid gold jewellery is considered a long-term investment because the gold runs through the entire piece rather than sitting on the surface. This means it will not fade or wear away like plated jewellery. With proper care, solid gold pieces can be worn for decades and often become heirloom jewellery.
Solid gold jewellery is durable enough to withstand occasional contact with water. However, to preserve its finish and minimise wear over time, we recommend removing jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising.
All Maya Magal solid gold jewellery is handcrafted using recycled gold. By reusing precious metals, we reduce the need for newly mined materials and minimise waste. Our jewellery is designed in London and made with longevity in mind - pieces intended to be worn, repaired, and treasured for years.
