To mark International Women's Day and to celebrate female empowerment, we asked our founder Maya which women inspired her throughout her personal journey of starting and growing this business.

This weekend, we'd like to introduce you to these inspiring women, the go-getters, innovators and game changers, who Maya personally looks up to.

Abbie Miranda Co-Founder of Beija

Today's all about Abbie Miranda, co-founder and head of design of London based lingerie brand Beija. Did you know Beija is one of our lovely Coal Drops Yard neighbours?

Beija was founded by sister Abbie Miranda and Mazie Fisher. Growing up in the family lingerie manufacturing business, the two sisters have a life long insight into the world of bras. Abbie and Mazie felt like something was still missing in the world of lingerie: a brand that offers lingerie that's designed to make you feel beautiful and sexy, but that's most of all relatable to all types and sizes of women, from women with an A to an H cup!

We absolutely love Beija's brand message, so we were excited to have a chat with co-founder Abbie and ask her some of our questions!

Tell us a bit about yourself and your brand/company?
I’m Abbie Miranda, 35, bra designer and co-founder of Beija London with my sister Mazie. I have 2 small children, live in Bow and am privileged to work in an industry that pivots around a dialogue with women.

If there's any advice you could give to a woman looking to start or grow her own business, what would it be?
Take all advice with a pinch of salt, even this advice! Only you know the ins and outs of your capacity to achieve all the things. It’s so great to be ambitious, and have people around you pick up that momentum - but if you’re a tiny team, be realistic and be focussed or you can end up with a scrambled egg head.

How do you keep motivated with your business?

Communication with our customers. They literally never let us down and always lift my spirits when they are low by sending a sweet encouraging email or love note. To have that intimacy with our customer base is such an honour. I love it.

Let's talk about....jewellery!

What does your everyday jewellery style consist of?
Talismans that are like lucky charms I suppose. Pendants that have significance to me mixed in with vintage Mexican pieces and strange little things I’ve collected over the years.

And finally, what are your top 3 Maya Magal pieces?

Tiny Hoops with Single Stone

Simple Organic Link Earrings
