Morweena & Sam's Ring Story! 18ct Princess Cut Emerald set in 18ct yellow gold.
💕 How did you meet?
Morwenna: We used to work for the same charity and often had to work on projects together. Sam was friends with my line manager and caught my eye across the office - often because I'd look up and he was staring at me! Now I know it was a deliberate technique to get my attention...
💕 Tell us a little something about the proposal...
We were on a wine-tasting holiday in St Emilion, near Bordeaux - it was really romantic. On the second day we hired bikes for the day and cycled around different chateaux exploring their vineyards and trying different wines. We were having a picnic at Chateaux Soutard before our next tour, when Sam proposed. I was so shocked I instantly burst into (happy) tears. We couldn't concentrate during the next wine tour because we were so excited and happy, we just wanted to talk about it and tell our friends. That night, Sam had booked a table at a fancy restaurant with an incredible view, so after an afternoon of more wine tasting and cycling, we went for an incredible Michelin-star dinner and watched the sun set over the vineyards.
💕 What inspired the design for your ring?
Sam: I wanted something understated, simple and not like your traditional engagement ring
. I knew that Morwenna's favourite stone was emerald so I wanted that to be prominent in the design, other than that I needed help for the design.
Morwenna: I LOVE the ring! I get so many compliments from people about it's unusual style and the amazing colour of the emerald.
💕 How was your experience designing your ring together with the Maya Magal team?
Sam: Given that other than knowing the stone I wanted I needed a lot of help to bring the design to life. Nathan was really helpful and patient answering all my questions and a number of visits to check I'd got it right. Morwenna loves the ring
so I am really grateful for his help. I also had quite a tight timeline so that the ring would be ready for our holiday where I was going to propose, this wasn't a problem at Maya Magal who completed the whole process in about 3 weeks!
