For Maya, jewellery is more than adornment. It is a story carried through time, passing from maker to wearer and beyond.
Her journey began in textile design, studying texture, surface and form before turning to jewellery. An apprenticeship under master jeweller Tony Thomson instilled a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, teaching the value of precision, patience and the small details that give a piece its character.
What began at the jeweller's bench has grown into a jewellery house shaped by those same principles. Today, Maya designs every Maya Magal collection, creating pieces that balance sculptural simplicity with everyday wearability. Alongside leading the creative vision of the brand, she works closely with the team across bespoke commissions, engagement rings, wedding bands and workshops, helping to shape experiences that feel thoughtful, personal and enduring.

WHY JEWELLERY MATTERS
Maya has always been drawn to objects that carry meaning. The things we keep close, wear often, and associate with a particular moment, person or feeling.
When she founded the brand, her ambition was simple: to create jewellery with a sense of permanence. Pieces that become part of someone's everyday life, gathering stories and significance over time.
From a small London studio to a team of talented jewellers, designers and makers, much has changed over the years. The intention, however, remains the same. To create jewellery with care, honesty and purpose, while celebrating the craftsmanship behind every piece.
Jewellery, for Maya, is at its most meaningful when it is worn. Not saved for special occasions, but lived in. A quiet part of someone's daily rhythm, carrying memories as the years pass.
HANDCRAFTED, MADE TO LAST
For Maya, the beauty of jewellery lies as much in its making as in the finished piece.
A sketch on paper. A wax carving at the bench. A stone carefully set by hand. It is these small, considered moments that give a piece its character and lasting value.
That respect for craftsmanship continues to guide everything the brand creates today. Collections are handcrafted using recycled precious metals and responsibly sourced gemstones, while bespoke commissions, engagement rings and wedding bands are brought to life through close collaboration between the team and the people who will wear them.
Jewellery is one of the few things we acquire with the hope that it will outlive us. Every Maya Magal piece is designed with that responsibility in mind: to be worn often, treasured deeply and passed on for generations to come.
