Meet Amy
Bespoke Jeweller at Maya Magal
Designing bespoke engagement rings and heirloom pieces reimagined through a considered, design-led approach in our London studio.
The Bespoke Designer
I love the fact it is so multifaceted across designing and making, so I can keep my day super varied. You really get to know people when you go through the bespoke process and it is lovely to be a part of creating something special for them.
I try to get inside your head and really understand your vision. If I can really understand your likes and dislikes I can create a design that speaks to you. I am a little bit like a translator in that way!
My favourite design is the one that gets you excited. I love jewellery, so it is a joy to unpack what you want to look at everyday.
I love working in all styles. I gravitate towards cleaner, more modern designs, but I do enjoy a hidden detail or element personal to the wearer. It is the little details and decisions that make it bespoke and special.
I love ancient jewellery as it feels like a cool reminder of how long people have been making and wearing jewellery. I love seeing how timeless those designs can be.
The Bespoke Process
Designing a bespoke piece can feel unfamiliar, but Amy will guide you through every step.

Initial Consultation
A conversation to understand your ideas, preferences and budget.

Design Development
Concepts are explored through sketches and references, refining the direction together.

Stone Sourcing
Carefully selected gemstones are sourced to suit the design.

Creation
Your piece is handcrafted in our London workshop and finished with precision and care.

From Sketch to Piece
For Amy, drawing is an essential part of the process.
How do sketches fit into your design process?
Sometimes I will sketch while we are chatting as a form of visual communication. Jewellery terms can be a little confusing sometimes when you are new to the jewellery world! A quick doodle can help to make sure we are on the same page.

Signature Style
Do you have favourite stones, settings or design details?
You can’t go wrong with diamonds, they really do go with everything! I do love sapphires for their beautiful colour range and durability, I love playing with tonal colour combinations. Bezel settings are maybe my favourite, I just love the smoothness which adds to the tactile sensory element.
The Amy Edit: Bespoke Commissions

Megan's Ring
They wanted it to feel on the chunky side, but still feel like an engagement ring. We had the perfect 2ct lab-grown yellow diamond in an elongated cushion shape. We played around with different shoulder stone shapes until we settled on the trapezoid shape as the perfect frame. The 18ct yellow gold is the perfect accompaniment for the yellow diamond.

Edan's Ring
This ring was a merge of old and new. A new lab-grown oval diamond was paired with a family natural diamond. I melted down gold from the family ring and added in some new gold to make the gorgeous chunky curved band. I love the mix of setting styles and the unexpected shape of the ring.

Lewis's Ring
This was a very special natural diamond 5 stone ring. So much thought went into the exact design and so many different versions were drafted before we landed on this one. The client loves gold and so we tried to make sure that was as much a feature as the diamonds. It is a modern take on an art deco style.

Personal Jewellery Style
What jewellery do you wear every day?
I wear a lot of rings! I have a few which are repurposed heirlooms, turning something not really my style into something I wear everyday and love. I love a gold hoop and simple chain necklace for daily wear too.
Is there a piece you wear that has personal meaning?
My engagement ring! It was very difficult to come up with a design because I see so many beautiful engagement rings everyday, but I love it. It really dresses up my jewellers hands which are usually covered in polish!
