We are so excited to share this bespoke ring made for Ebba + Raman! It was created with a cluster of eight conflict free diamonds in brilliant white, champagne and cognac colours from our trusted diamond dealer. We designed the ring with the couple at our Islington shop. For more information on bespoke pieces and a chance to create something totally unique take a look at our bespoke page.
We caught up with Ebba as she celebrated one year until their wedding day...
Maya Magal: Tell us about the proposal...
Ebba: We were on holiday in south of India, staying in a beautiful secluded area, overlooking an untouched coastline. We spent the day on the beach there, and were lucky enough to have it to ourselves. Raman called me over as i came out of the water, and seemed excited about spotting a crab. When I got there, he got down on his knee!
MM: What inspired the design?
E: I wanted a timeless, yet unusual design. I love the asymmetric shape with the varied sizes & levels of stones. Also the different tones of the champagne coloured, against the white stones and the gold ring.
MM: Had you always wanted to design your own ring?
E: Raman proposed with a beautiful ring, and it was a total surprise. After months of secretly looking and asking friends for advice, he decided he would not find 'the ring' - he knows i'm very picky. So he found something stunning and modest from Maya for the proposal, which I was over moon with. I felt especially lucky when he asked me to choose or design a ring myself. After looking at 100's of rings, at all the places one could think of, and not finding 'the ring', I decided to take him up on the offer to speak to Maya about it. I found inspiration for my own design from a number of places, and Maya helped me bring it together. I'll be wearing it for the rest of my life, and it's perfect!
MM: How was your experience designing with Maya?
E: The journey from concept to finish has been so exciting & fun. Although I had a clear vision of the design when we first met with Maya, it's equally as important to get input from the experts to ensure the details are defined. Maya showed me a number of compositions, and we tweeked them together. I must admit i was a little nervous whilst waiting for it, due to the complex design, and the specificity of the setting. The ring has been made to perfection, way better than we had imagined - I couldn't be happier. Thanks to Maya and her lovely team!
