We were so sad to see this beauty leave our Islington studio, but couldn't be happier for Edward + Emma and their recent engagement! We caught up with Edward about their ring story....
How did you meet?
Edward: We met on the dating app ‘Bumble’ a couple of years ago, I was lucky enough that Emma agreed to go on a date with me and since then we haven’t looked back. I feel privileged that I was Emma’s first and only dating app date
How did you propose?
We got engaged at Chewton Glen, the country house hotel and spa in the New Forest. I’d booked a long weekend for us to destress from London life. On our first day there we had a romantic lunch by the seaside followed by a couples massage in the afternoon. Just before dinner I got down on one knee in the room, thankfully the speech and proposal went smoothly, Emma was taken completely by surprise and she loved the ring. Flowers and champagne arrived at the room for us to celebrate, then we enjoyed a nice dinner with more bubbly and possibly a bit too much wine!
How did you find designing the ring?
I knew Emma wanted something traditional and delicate, but I also wanted to make it a little bit different and personal. I thought a bespoke piece from Maya Magal would be perfect, we really like their contemporary and unique designs.
Once I’d sourced the diamond from America, I visited the shop to meet up with Karolina our designer. She had some really nice ideas and together we came up with the final design. I like how the 6 small diamonds embedded in the ring, the 8 prong design and the engraving make it a bit different.
The whole experience with Maya Magal has been really good, from booking my first appointment to collecting the ring, and we look forward to have our wedding bands designed by them too.
